Fehr to assist NHL Players' Association in search @NHL

NEW YORK (AP) -Outgoing baseball union head Donald Fehr will assist the NHL Players' Association in its search for an executive director.

The hockey union said Thursday that Fehr will work with two committees. In addition to the search committee, a second panel will review the union's constitution.

"Hopefully, my experience at the MLBPA will be of help as the NHLPA members consider the reorganization of their union," Fehr said.

Fehr has been executive director of the Major League Baseball Players Association since 1983. He announced retirement plans in June. The baseball union's executive board is expected to approve union general counsel Michael Weiner to succeed him next month.
