Fantasy hockey awards for 2016-17 season

Connor McDavid most popular MVP choice; Auston Matthews leads strong rookie class

With the 2016-17 regular season coming to a close, it's time for the NHL.com fantasy staff to reflect on the players who have defined the landscape -- for better or worse.

Fantasy writers Pete Jensen, David Satriano, Ben Zweiman and Brian Metzer have selected their most valuable players at each position based on standard-category coverage. Each writer has weighed in on the biggest surprises, disappointments and top rookies, and identified some early bounce-back and sleeper targets for next season.
