Etienne Brodeur scores two adds assist as Chicoutimi beats Drummondville 7-6 @NHLdotcom

CHICOUTIMI, Que. - Etienne Brodeur scored two goals and added an assist as the Chicoutimi Sagueneens edged the Drummondville Voltigeurs 7-6 in a wild game in QMJHL action Saturday.

Brodeur opened the scoring and got the eventual winning goal in a game that saw the Sagueneens surrender a two-goal lead and a pair of one-goal advantages.

Gabriel Bourret and Charles Hudon added a goal and an assist for Chicoutimi, while Simon Tremblay, Alexandre Lavoie and Emrik Guillemette also counted.

Marc-Olivier Brouillard had a pair of goals and an assist for Drummondville, and Tommy Giroux, Charles-David Beaudoin, Bryce Milson, Emil Sylvegard rounded out the scoring. Andre Bouvet-Morrissette added three assists.

Francis Desrosiers turned away 26 shots for the Sagueneens, while Simon Giroux made 29 saves for the Voltigeurs.

Elsewhere in the QMJHL it was, Shawinigan 7, Val-d'Or 0; Acadie-Bathurst 7, Halifax 3; P.E.I. 7, Cape Breton 4 and Gatineau 5 Rouyn-Noranda 4.

At Chuicoutimi, Que., after a scoreless opening period the teams exploded for 13 goals over the final 40 minutes.

Brodeur staked the Sagueneens to a 1-0 lead 1:59 into the second period, but Brouillard pulled Drummondville even less than 1:30 later.

Tremblay and Lavoie gave Chicoutimi a two-goal lead midway through the period, but within three minutes the score was level again thanks to goals from Sylvegard and Milson.

Bourret ensured the Sagueneens took a lead into the intermission though, when he scored with just under three minutes left in the period.

That lead was short lived as Brouillard tied the score for the second time in the game 4:17 into the third.

The teams traded goals again when Guillemette for Chicoutimi and Beaudoin for Drummondville found the back of the net.

The Saguneens would take the lead for good though as Hudon and Brodeur scored less than two minutes apart. Giroux pulled a goal back for Drummondville but that would be as close as they would get.

Cataractes 7, Foreurs 0

At Shawinigan, Michael Bournival scored four goals and added an assist and Alex Dubeau made 26 saves for the shutout as the Cataractes hammered Val-d'Or.

Peter Sakaris, Dale Deon and Anton Zlobin also scored for the Cataractes.


Titan 7, Mooseheads 3

At Bathurst, N.B., Zach O'Brien, Sebastien Trudeau and Matthew Bissonnette each scored twice as the Titan beat Halifax.

O'Brien also had three assists, Trudeau had a pair of helpers and Bissonnette had an assist as well for the Titan. Nicolas Krammer had Acadie-Bathurst's other goal.

Joshua Desmond, Luca Ciampini and Matthew Boudreau replied for Halifax.


Rocket 7, Screaming Eagles 4

At Charlottetown, Matej Beran and Ben Duffy both scored twice and had an assist as P.E.I. downed Cape Breton.

Tomas Pavelka added a goal and an assist for the Rocket, while Pier-Antoine Dion and Alex Noel also scored.

William Carrier, with two, Denis Kindl and William Cochrane counted for Cape Breton.


Olympiques 5, Huskies 4

At Gatineau, Tyler Gaudet scored with 2:13 left in the third period as the Olympiques edged Rouyn-Noranda.

Rock Regimbald, Raphael Lafontaine and Felix Bergeron had the other goals for Gatineau.

Sven Andrighetto, Jean-Francois Grenier, Jessyko Bernard and Antoine Quevillon replied for Rouyn-Noranda.
