BARRIE, Ont. - Daniel Erlich had four assists as the Barrie Colts knocked off the Erie Otters 5-3 in Ontario Hockey League action on Saturday night.
Alex Lepkowski, Dylan Smoskowitz, Eric Locke, Colin Behenna and Reid McNeill scored for the Colts (21-13-3), who have now won nine of its last 14 New Year?s Eve contests.
Behenna?s goal gives him 53 points on the season, moving him into a tie for fourth place in OHL scoring.
Connor Brown, Greg McKegg and Travis Wood replied for the Otters (5-30-2), who have now lost seven of its last eight contests. Mike Cazzola added a pair of assists in the loss.
Mathias Niederberger turned aside 26 shots for the victory as Tyson Teichmann made 41 saves in defeat.
Barrie?s second-ranked power play only struck once against the Otters, who have the league?s worst penalty kill. The Colts finished the evening at 1-for-6, while Erie went 0-for-5.
