Karlsson

Erik Karlsson will take part in his first practice with the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday.

The defenseman was delayed arriving in San Jose by work visa issues since being traded by the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Practice is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. PT.
"I know I'm going to be walking into a group that are going to be extremely hungry to be successful every night, and I'm looking forward to that," Karlsson said the day he was traded. "It matches up with my personality and what I want to do as well. So in that aspect, I do think that they do have an extremely good team, and I'm going to be extremely excited to be a part of that."
The Sharks acquired Karlsson and forward prospect Francis Perron from the Ottawa Senators for forward Chris Tierney, defenseman Dylan DeMelo, forward prospects Rudolfs Balcers and Joshua Norris, two draft picks, and two conditional draft picks.
San Jose played its first preseason game Tuesday against the Anaheim Ducks and next plays Thursday at Anaheim. The Sharks' next home preseason game is Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights.
