The super-talented fifth grader at Walnut Creek Elementary School took the ice ahead before the Carolina Hurricanes hosted the Anaheim Ducks on Hockey Fights Cancer Night.
Figueroa-Butler got his start at Kidznotes, a non-profit North Carolina-based youth music program.
He was just four years old when he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. He had just recently become a big brother to then-three-month-old Adam.
Unable to play sports after his diagnosis, Figueroa-Butler discovered the violin. He now
has his own YouTube channel
and business, where he plays live events.
Butler-Figueroa has been in remission for four years.
