The Edmonton Oilers honored 12 of the newest Canadian citizens before their game against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.
In a special citizenship ceremony in the Oilers Hall of Fame room at Rogers Place, families from as far as Thailand, Macedonia and India were sworn in as Canadian citizens.
Each one proudly displayed a No. 17 Oilers jersey with "Canada" stitched on the name plate.
Afterward, they were welcomed on the ice where they proudly sang along to "O Canada."
