Welcome to the team!

The Edmonton Oilers honored 12 of the newest Canadian citizens before their game against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday.

In a special citizenship ceremony in the Oilers Hall of Fame room at Rogers Place, families from as far as Thailand, Macedonia and India were sworn in as Canadian citizens.

Tweet from @EdmontonOilers: Congrats to the 12 new Canadian citizens (& new #Oilers fans) who were sworn in at @RogersPlace this afternoon! #Canada150 #MyCitizenship

Each one proudly displayed a No. 17 Oilers jersey with "Canada" stitched on the name plate.

Afterward, they were welcomed on the ice where they proudly sang along to "O Canada."
