The Edmonton Oilers were hoping center Connor McDavid, selected No. 1 in the 2015 NHL Draft, would help them make the Stanley Cup Playoffs last season for the first time since 2006, but a fractured clavicle limited the Calder Trophy finalist to 45 games. Although McDavid had 48 points (16 goals, 32 assists) in 45 games, Edmonton struggled offensively, ranking 25th in goals, and finished with the second-fewest points in the League.
