Kane gave Edmonton a 1-0 lead at 1:35 of the first on its first shot on goal, a wrist shot above the left face-off circle.
Jaden Schwartz tied it 1-1 at 6:34 by deflecting a one-timer in the high slot from Dunn, who has 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) during his point streak.
Kailer Yamamoto gave the Oilers a 2-1 lead at 16:36 by tapping in a pass from Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
"We've got a lot of good players who can score," Yamamoto said. "They're a good team. They have a lot of good players over there. They find ways to score. They defend hard. Give a lot of props to them for sticking in it. But we found a way to win. That's a big 'W' for us."
Kane extended the lead to 3-1 with a one-timer 43 seconds into the second.
Jordan Eberle cut it to 3-2 at 4:07 on a wrist shot through the five-hole.
"I think we just gave them too many high-quality chances," Eberle said. "We had our chances. I think, for the most part, we were skating with them and creating plays."
Hyman scored 30 goals for the first time in the NHL when he made it 4-2 at 7:28, the first shot Jones faced.
Oliver Bjorkstrand took a pass from Yanni Gourde for a wrist shot in the slot, cutting it to 4-3 at 14:18.
"For big parts of the game, I thought we played well," Bjorkstrand said. "Obviously, when you play a team like that, they're good at scoring goals. The details have to be there. You've got to bear down."
Kane completed the hat trick with a wrist shot glove side that made it 5-3 at 10:20 of the third before McDavid scored his NHL-leading 58th goal from the left circle on a power play that put the Oilers in front 6-3 at 16:10.
Eeli Tolvanen cut it to 6-4 with 48 seconds left by finishing a pass from Morgan Geekie above the crease.
"It's a tough building. They're a good team," Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft said. "In the end, we found a way to get the two points in a tough building, so we'll take them and move on."
