Janmark posts 2-goal night in 6-3 win over Stars

DALLAS -- Mattias Janmark had two goals and an assist, and the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars 6-3 at American Airlines Center on Wednesday.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had a goal and two assists, Connor McDavid scored to extend his point streak to 14 games, and Stuart Skinner made 24 saves for the Oilers (18-14-2), who ended a three-game skid.
"They're a great team," Janmark said. "They've been playing some really good hockey. It was a really big test for us on the road. We've come off a few losses here, and we're going into the (Christmas) break, so you definitely don't want to go in on a losing streak."
Roope Hintz scored, Mason Marchment had two assists, and Jake Oettinger made 28 saves for the Stars (19-9-6), who had won three of four (3-0-1).

Hintz scored at 14:49 in the first period to give Dallas a 1-0 lead on a one-timer from the top of the face-off circle off a cross-ice pass from Jason Robertson.
Janmark tied it 1-1 at 15:55 near the edge of the crease after a pass from Klim Kostin.
Wyatt Johnston scored 27 seconds into the second period to put the Stars ahead 2-1 after a stretch pass through the neutral zone by Marchment.
"I thought as a whole, our group had a good game," Marchment said. "Everyone was competing and finishing their checks. Sometimes, those bounces [don't go in]."

Zach Hyman tied it 2-2 at 2:36 on the power play when he collected a rebound at the top of the crease.
"Different teams present different challenges," Edmonton coach Jay Woodcroft said. "The Dallas Stars are a well-coached, well-oiled machine right now. They're leading their division for a reason. This was an important game for us. This is not an easy building to take two points out of. The way we played tonight was inspired."
Nugent-Hopkins gave the Oilers a 3-2 lead at 8:18 when he shot the puck high on Oettinger from a sharp angle. It was his fourth goal over a three-game streak.
"It was a strange game," Dallas coach Peter DeBoer said. "We were a little bit sloppy. I think we anticipated we would be a little bit. I was hoping we'd work our way out of it. But you can't hand a team like that some goals, and I think we gave them some goals."

EDM@DAL: Foegele scores to put Oilers ahead in 3rd

Tyler Seguin scored on the power play to tie it 3-3 at 17:56 when he deflected Marchment's shot in the slot.
Warren Foegele put Edmonton ahead 4-3 at 11:46 of the third period after Dallas defenseman Miro Heiskanen turned the puck over in the defensive zone.
"It's five guys out on the ice that make mistakes," Seguin said. "We had a couple of looks there in the third. We had a chance; the game was there. Learn from it, obviously it's a tough situation after the long road trip.
"Every team does that. Every team has those games where they've got excuses if they want them, and we don't want them."
McDavid made it 5-3 at 16:17 with his 29th goal when he put the puck five-hole to finish a 2-on-1 with Hyman. He has 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists) during his streak.
Janmark scored into an empty net at 16:49 for the 6-3 final.
"I think we just played tight, we didn't give them much," Hyman said of the Oilers' play in the third. "I think we just stuck with the game plan and had full contributions. I think we have a really good team, and we're better than our record shows."

EDM@DAL: McDavid snaps in a shot on the rush

NOTES: Tyson Barrie got his 14th assist in 11 games since Dec. 1, the most by an Oilers defenseman in any month since Paul Coffey (18 assists in 11 games, March 1986). ...
