(Edmonton, AB) -- Walking FORE a cause! The Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON unveiled its charitable component to complement Edmonton's 2nd annual Mackenzie Tour - PGA TOUR Canada event, the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation Walk FORE Kids, in support of the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation.

The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation Walk FORE Kids provides participants with the opportunity to experience one of the premier golf courses in Western Canada, the Windermere Golf & Country Club. Participants will walk alongside Mackenzie Tour professionals during the final round of the Oil Country Championship, while raising money for the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation. The walk will be an approximate three-kilometre guided tour of the course on Sunday, August 6, 2017, with fans walking toward the final hole alongside the tournament leaders.
As beneficiary of the entire Oil Country Championship week, the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) will also be donating net tournament funds, including proceeds from the charity walk to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation in support of its Pediatric Procedure Room. Specifically, funds raised will serve to benefit the equipment inside this safe, private and non-threatening child-friendly pediatric suite for medical procedures.
"The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation Walk FORE Kids will raise important funds for the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation and its Pediatric Procedure Room," said EOCF Executive Director Natalie Minckler.
"The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation is dedicated to improving lives through life-changing work and the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation does just that - changes lives and enhances the quality of life for its patients and families, making this cause the perfect fit for our Foundation's efforts."
"The new Pediatric Procedure Room will be a dedicated child-friendly space designed to provide small medical procedures in an environment that is calming and soothing. It is very important that kid's hospital rooms be a "safe place" where they will not experience any medical interventions," said President & CEO Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation Wendy Dugas. "This will be an uplifting space that will facilitate positive experiences and successful outcomes. The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation is thrilled with the support towards this much-needed project and all the partners that came together to make this a reality."
The cost of registration for walkers is a $25 fee that will be donated to the EOCF, who will direct proceeds to the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Foundation. Walkers are encouraged to fundraise individually with pledges of support, but this is not a requirement. The top fundraiser will receive two lower bowl tickets to an Oilers home game at Rogers Place during the upcoming 2017-18 NHL season at Rogers Place.
The Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation Walk FORE Kids is perfect for families, golf fans and casual walkers. Participants of all ages and fitness levels are welcome. In addition to a beautiful walk alongside golfers in the final round of the Syncrude Oil Country Championship presented by AECON, all participants will receive:
