CHICAGO -- Connor McDavid scored 53 seconds into overtime to give the Edmonton Oilers a 2-1 win against the Chicago Blackhawks at United Center on Sunday.

McDavid beat goalie Cam Ward with a shot from the bottom of the left face-off circle off a pass from Leon Draisaitl on a 2-on-1.
"We got some skill, we got some skill," said McDavid, who has scored a goal in four straight games and has had at least one point in nine of 10 games to start the season. "Even if it's not me and Leon, it's Ryan Nugent-Hopkins], it's some of our D jumping in. It's up and down the lineup, so we got skill. We know how to play 3-on-3. It's a different style of hockey that we seem to understand."

Cam Talbot made 31 saves for Edmonton (6-3-1), which has won three games in a row, including 5-3 at the Nashville Predators on Saturday, and is 6-1-1 in its past eight.
"That was an exciting game," Talbot said. "A tough game for goalies. Both guys had to make a bunch of key stops tonight and make it 1-1. Those are the games that you want to be in against a team like that on the road in a tough building. It's my job to make those stops and give us a chance like I did tonight, and the guys rewarded me."
Ward made 24 saves for the Blackhawks (6-3-3), who were coming off a 7-3 loss at the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

Patrick Kane extended his point streak to six games with an assist on Brent Seabrook's goal on a 5-on-3 power play that gave the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead at 11:02 of the first period. The goal came on Chicago's first shot of the game.
"I mean, he's one of the best passers in the world, so when he's got the puck on his stick, you're just trying to get open," Seabrook said. "You're just trying to find a space to shoot the puck. Chances are, nine times out of 10 he's going to find you, put it right in a good spot for you to shoot it. That's what everybody is trying to do on the power play for sure."
Kane has six goals and four assists in the point streak.

Zack Kassian tied it 1-1 with 1:34 remaining in the first with his first goal in 22 games dating to last season (Feb. 22 against the Colorado Avalanche).
"You know what, it was all the fourth line tonight," McDavid said of Kassian, Kyle Brodziak and Jujhar Khaira. "They're called the fourth line. Tonight, they were the first line. They were unbelievable, all three of them. The way they were able to create chances and bang one in, and get on the forecheck and create havoc for us. I thought this was their best game all season for sure, and all the credit goes to them."

They said it

"I thought [goalie Cam Talbot] maybe had to work a little harder than [Blackhawks goalie Cam] Ward did tonight. It was a real good night, two nights in a row for our goaltenders (Mikko Koskinen made 24 saves against the Predators for his first NHL win since Feb. 11, 2011). And that's a real positive sign when you can get two of them to perform like that." -- Oilers coach Todd McLellan
"I think we're still trying to build that identity. But we know that when we play with pace and we're smart with the puck, we're good defensively and are getting pucks out when we need to get them out, and getting them in when we have to get them in, we're a lot harder to play against, as opposed to the other way. … When we have that checking mentality, we can play with any team." -- Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith
