NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ The Nashville Predators led after two periods. They just couldn't make the advantage hold up for the full 60 minutes.

Ethan Moreau scored midway through the third period to lift the Edmonton Oilers to a 2-2 tie with the Predators on Sunday.

``Nashville is a good team at home,'' Edmonton defenseman Steve Staios said. ``We matched their intensity. We matched their speed. This game was pretty even throughout.''

Edmonton got even at 2 with 9:52 left in regulation when Moreau skated in from the left wing, crossed in front of the net, and beat Tomas Vokoun with a backhander for the only goal scored at even strength.

``All we had to do was be 0-0 in the third and we win that hockey game,'' Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. ``It wasn't anything team-wise. It was that they were dominating us in our own zone. We had some chances in the third and we didn't bury them.''

Andreas Johansson sparked the Predators with his first power-play goal of the season. He also assisted on Nashville's other man-advantage score.

``Goals are tough to come by at this point in the season,'' Johansson said. ``It's too bad we lost one point. We have to learn how to finish teams off.''

Nashville took a 1-0 lead just 1:33 in when Scott Walker, while face down on the ice, stuck the puck past goaltender Tommy Salo from just to the left side of the net.

Edmonton tied it on the power play in the second period when Radek Dvorak fired a one-timer from the center of the ice just inside the blue line that scraped the right inside post and went in at 2:03.

Johansson put the Predators ahead again with seven minutes left in the period with a one-timed shot from the top of the slot.

``I thought it was a pretty good effort from two teams that are pretty desperate right now,'' Edmonton coach Craig MacTavish said. ``We needed at least the point especially in light of the fact that we came back in the third period to get the tie.''

Both teams lost players during the game. Dvorak left with a groin injury, and Brad Isbister went out with an ankle injury.

The Predators lost Jeremy Stevenson in the second period after he was ejected following his third fight of the game.

``We both had short benches and were having to play everyone,'' Trotz said.
