The Edmonton Oilers expect forward Connor McDavid to rejoin them Tuesday after competing at the World Cup of Hockey 2016, general manager Peter Chiarelli told the Edmonton Journal on Friday.
McDavid and forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins played for Team North America, whose tournament ended Thursday when Team Russia prevented it from making the semifinals.

"They'll be on the ice Tuesday morning," Chiarelli said. "I don't know about Leon [Draisaitl] and [Andrej Sekera], playing for Team Europe (which plays Team Sweden on Sunday)."
The Oilers play split-squad preseason games against the Calgary Flames on Monday. The home game will be Edmonton's first at Rogers Place, its new arena.
Coach Todd McLellan, who coached Team North America, and Oilers and World Cup assistant Jay Woodcroft were at Edmonton training camp Friday.
"We felt it was important enough to take a flight and get into Edmonton late, but I'm not playing the games," McLellan told the newspaper. "I just have to get prepared (for camp). It's no big deal for me, but [Ryan] and Connor have worked hard for three weeks with us and deserve time off. Sekera and Leon the same when they get back."
