The Edmonton Elks wore a special helmet decal honoring the life and legacy of Joey Moss.

The longtime Edmonton Oilers assistant equipment manager and locker room attendant
died Oct. 26, 2020
. He was 57.

Moss, who had Down Syndrome, was a fixture with the Oilers from the start of the 1984-85 season until his death. He also became a big part of the CFL's Elks with his natural enthusiasm and non-stop work ethic.
The special helmet decals, placed on the back left side of the Elks' helmets read: "Joey, 1963-2020. Once. Always." The Elks also played a video of Moss singing "O Canada" before their first game Saturday.
The Oilers paid special tribute to Moss
before their home opener
Jan. 13.
Earlier this year, the Elks established the inaugural Joey Moss Award, which will be given each year to the player that thrives despite adversity and embodies Moss' positivity throughout the team's training camp.

Elks cornerback Jonathan Rose was the first recipient of the award.
