CRANBROOK, B.C. - Cody Eakin and Justin Dowling had two goals each as the Swift Current Broncos beat the Kootenay Ice 6-2 in Western Hockey League action Saturday night.
The Broncos (13-11-2) opened the scoring as Dowling split the Ice defence at the blue-line and scored with high backhand.
The Broncos made it 2-0 on another breakaway as Taylor Vause scored on wrist shot.
Kootenay (11-13-2) changed goalies as Nathan Lieuwen replaced Todd Mathews, but Mathews went back in net 1:31 later.
The Ice got on the board on a power-play as defenceman James Martin fed Matt Fraser, who connected on a one-timer.
The Broncos regained the two-goal lead on a scramble near the net. Stepan Novotny had an open net for the easy goal.
The Broncos added insurance early in the third period an another breakaway as Eakin got his league leading 23rd.
The Ice pulled within two won as defenceman James Martin scored on a slapshot.
Broncos added power-play goals by Eakin and Justin to finish the game with the 6-2 win.
