LETHBRIDGE, Alta. - Dustin Sylvester scored the shootout winner as the Kootenay Ice outlasted the Lethbridge Hurricanes 2-1 in Western Hockey League play Saturday.
Sylvester's winning goal on Hurricanes goaltender Linden Rowat ended a long stalemate.
Just over three minutes into the first period, Carter Bancks scored a short-handed goal to put Lethbridge (17-38-7) up 1-0.
Ice right-winger Christian Magnus tied it up at 17:42, which ended the scoring through to the shootout.
Nathan Lieuwen stopped 27 shots in net for Kootenay (38-19-5), while Rowat finished with 20 saves.
