Dustin Jeffrey scores overtime winner as Greyhounds edge Spirit 3-2

SAULT STE. MARIE, Ont. - Dustin Jeffrey scored the overtime winner and added an assist as the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds edged the Saginaw Spirit 3-2 in OHL action Saturday night.

In a potential preview of a first round playoff series Wayne Simmonds led Sault Ste. Marie (44-18-2-4) with a goal and two assists, while Matthew Lyall shipped in with a single.

Joe Pleckaitis and Ryan McDonough replied for Saginaw (32-25-8-2).

The Greyhounds currently occupy second place in the Western Conference, while the Spirit are in seventh. Saginaw plays Plymouth Sunday afternoon and with a loss would fall to the eighth spot and play the CHL's top ranked Kitchener Rangers.

Kyle Gajewski made 26 saves for Sault Ste. Marie, while Ryan Daniels turned away 41 shots for Saginaw.
