Anthony Duclair of the Quebec Remparts and Alexandre Belanger of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies were honored by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on Monday.
Duclair, a left wing for the Remparts, was named Second Star of the Week after totaling two goals, five assists and a plus-5 rating in three games. His week started with a two-goal, one-assist performance last Wednesday in a 9-3 defeat of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Then on Friday he had three assists in a 6-0 defeat of the Sherbrooke Phoenix. He finished his week with an assist in a 2-1 shootout loss to the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.
The big week extended Duclair's scoring streak to four games and gives him seven goals and 11 assists in 12 games. He's No. 8 on NHL Central Scouting's preliminary top 25 ranking QMJHL skaters for the 2013 NHL Draft.
Belanger was named Third Star of the Week after stopping 49 of 51 shots in winning both his starts. Friday against the Shawinigan Cataractes, he stopped all 24 shots for his first QMJHL shutout in a 4-0 win. One night later, he stopped 24 of 26 shots in a 6-2 defeat of Acadie-Bathurst.
The 17-year-old goalie has won all seven of his starts this season, and in 10 games is 7-0-1 with a 2.94 goals-against average and .891 save percentage.
