The Anaheim Ducks had some graduation gifts for the Class of 2020.

The team hosted an informal graduation for students of all ages outside Honda Center on Sunday.

The COVID-19 pandemic canceled graduation ceremonies across the country this spring, and with many scheduled for mid-June, the Ducks sprang to action to ensure any student could celebrate their accomplishment with them.

"We took the opportunity to… find a creative way to help people celebrate what really is a noteworthy achievement for so many of these kids," Ducks vice president of marketing Merit Tully said. "The one thing that I think everybody has in common is a smile on their face and a gratefulness for the opportunity to get out of their house, do it in a safe manner and be recognized for what is a great achievement."

The Ducks gave participants souvenir diplomas and gift bags, which included a Ducks figurine [either a bobblehead or Wild Wing statue] headphones, a reusable straw and a corduroy Ducks hat.

Graduates could also pose for a photo with the Wild Wing statue, which was decked out in a cap gown.

The ceremony saw graduates of all ages participate, from Pre-K through college.

"This is something really big for me," Whittier High School graduate Ashley Aceves. "I haven't really had the opportunity to celebrate graduating in general, so this is an awesome opportunity. I love the Ducks so this is awesome that [they] were able to do all this."
