Driedger makes 39 saves as Hitmen take 2-0 series lead @NHL

CALGARY - Chris Driedger stopped 39-of-40 shots to backstop the Calgary Hitmen to a 3-1 win over the visiting Swift Current Broncos on Friday in Western Hockey League playoff action.

Cody Sylvester and Victor Rask had a goal and an assist each for the Hitmen, who took a 2-0 lead in their opening round best-of-seven series against the Broncos.

Greg Chase also scored for Calgary.

Adam Lowry scored the lone goal of the game for the Broncos, who will host Games 3 of the series on Monday Mar. 25th.

Swift Current goalie Eetu Laurikainen made 20 saves in a losing cause.

The Broncos went 1 for 4 on the power play, while the Hitmen failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.

Following an uneventful first period, Sylvester scored at 11:20 of the second.

The Calgary captain then set up Chase?s first goal of the playoffs just over four minutes later.

After Rask scored early in the third period to put the Hitmen up 3-0, Lowry finally ended Driedger?s shut-out bid with a power-play goal at 10:19.
