Drew Owsley makes 28 saves as Americans top Blazers 3-1

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Drew Owsley finished with 28 saves for his league-leading 32nd win for Tri-City as the Americans beat the Kamloops Blazers 3-1 on Sunday night in Western Hockey League play.

Tyler Schmidt, Mason Wilgosh and Brooks Macek scored for Tri-City (40-15-3), which stretched its lead in the U.S. Division to six points over Portland.

The Americans, who are 17-2 against the B.C. Division after sweeping Kamloops, Kelowna, Prince George and Vancouver, trail Saskatoon and Brandon by one point in the race for the WHL's best record.

Linden Saip had the lone goal for Kamloops (27-28-6,), while Jon Groenheyde finished with 33 saves.
