Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.
Players accumulate points in DraftKings for each goal (3 points), assist (2), shot on goal (0.5), blocked shot (0.5) and shootout goal (0.2). Bonuses are given for shorthanded points (1) and hat tricks (1.5). Goalies accumulate points for each win (3) and save (0.2), and lose a point for each goal allowed. Goalie bonuses are given for a shutout (2) where the goalie completes the entire game with no goals allowed in regulation (and overtime, if applicable). Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout, and goalies will receive points for any goals or assists they score in a game. Penalty minutes, hits, plus-minus and PP points DO NOT count in DraftKings. DraftKings lineups must include nine players (2 C, 3 W, 2 D, 1 G, 1 FLEX) and fit within the $50,000 salary cap.
David Krejci, C, Boston Bruins
DraftKings price: $5,400
No one brings more value to DraftKings owners than Krejci, who is currently in a four-way tie for the NHL lead in points with 12 (five goals, seven assists) through seven games and is second to Washington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom with an average of 1.71 points per game. The veteran center seeks to extend his season-long point streak to eight games as the Bruins host the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday. Krejci is averaging a point per game in nine games against the Coyotes with two goals and seven assists along with 16 shots on goal.
Mike Cammalleri, W, New Jersey Devils
DraftKings price: $5,200
Right behind Krejci as a surprise scoring leader this season is Cammalleri with 11 points (three goals, eight assists) in eight games. The Devils top-line left wing is in the midst of a four-game point streak with two goals and six assists and has totaled 19 shots on goal over that span. The Devils on Tuesday host the Columbus Blue Jackets, who have given up a League-worst 40 goals over nine games. Cammalleri has been great against Columbus with 11 goals, 10 assists and 86 shots on goal in 26 games.
Colton Parayko, D, St. Louis Blues
DraftKings price: $3,100
The Blues rookie has been a nice find for DraftKings owners as he's routinely provided all-category coverage at a continued bargain price. While three goals and two assists over eight games has been somewhat unexpected, the consistent blocked shots (15) and shots on goal (19) has given owners a solid source of supplemental points to their higher-priced top defenseman on a given night. It remains to be seen if Parayko can keep up the offensive output, but he remains a low-risk selection as the Blues host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN).
Antti Niemi, G, Dallas Stars
DraftKings price: $6,700
Selecting a goaltender who plays against the historically offensively sound Anaheim Ducks, the Stars opponent at home Tuesday, has the potential to backfire at any moment. But it's tough to pass over Niemi considering Anaheim is averaging a League-worst 0.56 goals per game over eight games this season. Anaheim was shut out for the fifth time in a 1-0 loss at the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday despite totaling a season-high 39 shots on goal.
