Each day during the 2015-16 season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will identify one player at each position worth owning in DraftKings daily fantasy hockey contests. Based on factors including but not limited to matchups, line combinations, power-play usage, statistical coverage and recent production, we'll provide you with lower-priced options that can help you build a winning lineup.
Players accumulate points in DraftKings for each goal (3 points), assist (2), shot on goal (0.5), blocked shot (0.5) and shootout goal (0.2). Bonuses are given for shorthanded points (1) and hat tricks (1.5). Goalies accumulate points for each win (3) and save (0.2), and lose a point for each goal allowed. Goalie bonuses are given for a shutout (2) where the goalie completes the entire game with no goals allowed in regulation (and overtime, if applicable). Shootout goals will not prevent a shutout, and goalies will receive points for any goals or assists they score in a game. Penalty minutes, hits, plus-minus and PP points DO NOT count in DraftKings. DraftKings lineups must include nine players (2 C, 3 W, 2 D, 1 G, 1 FLEX) and fit within the $50,000 salary cap.

DraftKings price: $4,200
DraftKings owners should select Nelson on a four-game Monday because it's rare to get such a productive first-line forward at a bargain price. Nelson has combined with linemates John Tavares and Kyle Okposo for 25 of the Islanders' 67 goals this season, and fantasy owners should expect the strong play to continue when the Colorado Avalanche visit Barclays Center. The Avalanche have struggled defensively with a 3.04 goals-against average and an average of 29.9 shots against through 23 games. Nelson has a goal, assist and seven shots on goal in four games against Colorado.
Benoit Pouliot, W, Edmonton Oilers
DraftKings price: $3,800
Considering his price and solid performance against the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Oilers' opponent Monday, Pouliot is a must-own player Monday. The second-line forward has seven goals, 10 assists, five blocked shots and 41 shots on goal in 21 games against Toronto, and has also played well recently with a goal, assist and seven shots on goal in the past three games. It's important to choose players with potential that also likely won't be taken by a majority of DraftKings owners, and Pouliot could make a huge difference on a light game night.
Keith Yandle, D, New York Rangers
DraftKings price: $4,600
With a limited pool of players Monday; owners must roll the dice and go with someone they normally wouldn't pick on a busier game night. Yandle is currently on the Rangers' third defensive pair and second power-play unit but has enough offensive talent to be a viable fantasy threat on any given night. Owners should select the veteran defenseman since he did well in his last game at home against the Carolina Hurricanes, who the Rangers host Monday, with an assist, blocked shot and two shots on goal on Nov. 10.
Henrik Lundqvist, G, New York Rangers
DraftKings price: $8,100
Lundqvist was the suggested goaltender on Nov. 10 against the Hurricanes and he came through with a 33-save shutout. The veteran goalie is the most expensive Monday but owners should splurge on a player that should be a sure thing against the Hurricanes. Though owners need to wait on confirmation regarding who Rangers coach Alain Vigneault chooses as his starter, Lundqvist would be the best choice in fantasy with a 22-9-1 record, 865 saves on 929 shots and three shutouts in 32 starts against Carolina. If it's decided that backup Antti Raanta ($7,200) gets the start, then owners should take him since the Hurricanes average 30.5 shots per game but only score an average of 2.04 goals per game. Raanta is 3-1-0 in four home starts this season with 1.50 goals-against average over that span.
