Dowling scores lone shootout goal in Swift Current's 5-4 win over Edmonton

SWIFT CURRENT, Sask. - Justin Dowling scored the lone shootout goal as the Swift Current Broncos earned a 5-4 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings in WHL action Sunday.

Swift Current, who are now 1-2 in shootouts, improved their home record to 12-2 with the win. Edmonton is now 1-3 in games decided in shootouts this season.

Oil Kings forward Tomas Vincour scored his team-leading 12th of the season to tie the game at 4-4 with 6:12 left in regulation, sending the game into overtime.

Brent Raedeke, Brett Breitkreuz and T.J. Foster with his first of the season also scored for Edmonton (8-11-6).

Cody Eakin scored his Western Hockey League leading 22nd goal of the season and added three assists for Swift Current (12-10-2) to improve to 33 points in 24 games.

Swift Current also had goals from Brad Hoban, Justin Dowling, and overage defenceman Derek Claffey.

Broncos goaltender Morgan Clark improved to 10-6-1 with the shootout win, stopping 35 shots in regulation and turning aside all three shootout attempts.

Oil Kings netminder Torrie Jung is 5-9-4 on the year after stopping 38 of 42 shots in regulation.
