Dowd has four points as the Edmonton Oil Kings destroy the Bruins 8-1

EDMONTON - Brendan Dowd led the way with a hat-trick and an assist as the Edmonton Oil Kings steamrolled the Chilliwack Bruins 8-1 on Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

The Oil Kings jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first period on goals from Brent Raedeke and Robin Soudek, as well as two from Dowd. Shayne Neigum scored twice and Jeff Lee added a goal and two assists for Edmonton (21-22-2-4).

Andy Smith had the lone marker for the Bruins (12-30-2-3).

Torrie Jung made 24 saves for the Oil Kings, while Chilliwack netminder Mark Friesen stopped 23 shots.
