Doc Emrick, Bob Costas visit Cup before MLB game

Announcers will call Pirates-Cubs in Pittsburgh on Friday @NHLdotcom

Mike "Doc" Emrick will step out of his element Friday when he joins Bob Costas in the broadcast booth for a Major League Baseball game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs on MLB Network.

On Thursday, Costas took a trip into Emrick's world, when the two chatted hockey in the Pittsburgh Penguins dressing room alongside the Stanley Cup, which was on display at Consol Energy Center.

The Penguins won the Cup with a six-game Stanley Cup Final series win against the San Jose Sharks. Emrick, an Indiana-born fan of the Pirates, was the play-by-play announcer for each game. It was his 10th consecutive year calling the Cup Final on NBC.

Costas, a longtime sports commentator for NBC, served as the network's studio host for each of the first four NHL Winter Classic games.
