Each day this season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will provide daily picks for DraftKings NHL contests. This list of targets includes expensive and value options at each position to help you build a winning roster.
C - Artem Anisimov, CHI ($5,200)
Anisimov is centering the hottest line in the NHL between Artemi Panarin ($6,800) and Patrick Kane ($8,400). He has four goals and four assists during a four-game point streak for 24 DraftKings points over that span. Anisimov is much cheaper than his linemates and offers just as much upside if each of them keeps scoring. The Calgary Flames are allowing the ninth-most points to opposing centers, and while Anisimov will likely have a high ownership with two games scheduled Monday, the Chicago Blackhawks center provides the most bang-for-your-buck.

C - David Desharnais, MTL ($3,400)
If you want an even less expensive center who's more contrarian, Desharnais has had a decent start to the season. He has four points in five games (2.8 DraftKings points per game) and has made the most of his third-line assignment after playing most of his career with the Montreal Canadiens in a top-six role. The Philadelphia Flyers have allowed at least three goals in each of their past four games with goalies Steve Mason (3.35 goals-against average) and Michal Neuvirth (4.23) struggling.
W - Tyler Motte, CHI ($3,600)
If you're trying to stay away from the heavily-owned stack of Kane and Panarin, Motte has scored in each of his past two games playing on the Blackhawks' top line with center Jonathan Toews ($5,700). The rookie left wing has had at least 3.5 DraftKings points in four of his first six NHL games. It also helps that the Flames are allowing the most points to opposing wings this season.

W - Paul Byron, MTL ($2,800)
One of Desharnais' linemates, Byron hasn't seen his salary increase despite solid production; he has 3.0 or more DraftKings points in three of five games. He isn't going to see any power-play time but plays plenty on the kill, and even scored a shorthanded goal against the Boston Bruins on Saturday. It's always easy to target the higher-priced wings, but if you're playing in big tournaments, it's players like Byron who can make the difference.
D - Brian Campbell, CHI ($3,700)
Campbell's return to the Blackhawks has been up and down so far. He got off to a slow start, was scratched and then had three assists in a season-high 20:17 for 8.5 DKPts against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. The Flames offer a similarly strong matchup as the Maple Leafs did, and Campbell's trajectory suggests he should continue to get points playing on the top pairing with Duncan Keith.
D - Ivan Provorov, PHI ($3,600)
The rookie defenseman broke out in the Flyers' 6-3 win against the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday, getting two assists and four blocked shots for 6.0 DraftKings points. He has three assists in five games this season, and though the Canadiens present a tough matchup, Provorov plays in all situations and is beginning to get used to the NHL game.
G - Carey Price, MTL ($8,300)
The reason you'll want all these cheap recommendations at forward and defense is so you can pay up for Price, the most expensive goalie on the market. The goaltender has won two straight starts since returning from the flu and the Canadiens have allowed two goals in two games at home this season. Price has a good chance at getting a win, which is exactly what you're looking for on a night with two games. If Price doesn't go, Al Montoya ($7,800) becomes a must-start.
G - Corey Crawford, CHI ($8,200)
As with Price, Crawford will likely come out of Monday with a win against the 1-4-1 Flames. He's a risky play considering he's allowed three or more goals in each of his four starts this season, but there's no way you can insert either Calgary goaltender into your lineup. This game expects to be high scoring, so it may be best to shy away from it entirely, instead opting for either Price or whichever Flyers goalie starts. Scott Darling ($8,000) has played slightly better than Crawford, so monitor which goaltender is set to start prior to game time.
