Each day this season, NHL.com's fantasy staff will provide daily picks for DraftKings NHL contests. This list of targets includes expensive and value options at each position to help you build a winning roster.
C - Anze Kopitar, LAK ($5,400)
Kopitar returned to the Los Angeles Kings lineup Wednesday against the New York Islanders and had 2.5 DraftKings points (one assist, one shot on goal). Tied for 21st among centers in price Saturday, Kopitar is available at a discount because he missed five games with an upper-body injury. The Kings captain has 24 points in 34 career regular-season games against the Chicago Blackhawks, who will be playing the second of a back-to-back set. The Blackhawks could be without injured center Jonathan Toews, who usually matches up against Kopitar.
C - Bo Horvat, VAN ($4,100)
Horvat, who has been the center of the Vancouver Canucks' surging second line with Alexandre Burrows and Sven Baertschi of late, has nine points in his past eight games. The 21-year-old has a favorable matchup at the Colorado Avalanche, who have allowed 26 goals in nine home games this season. Horvat has two goals, two assists, three blocks and four shots on goal in his past two games, and has seven points in nine road games.
W - Alex Ovechkin, WSH ($8,600)
Ovechkin has exploded for five goals on 17 SOG in his past four games, and faces the vulnerable Toronto Maple Leafs defense (3.25 goals allowed per game, fourth most in NHL). Even though the Washington Capitals are on the second of a back-to-back after playing Friday at home against the Buffalo Sabres, DFS owners can't afford to ignore Ovechkin's career numbers against the Maple Leafs (57 points in 39 games). He can be conveniently stacked with linemate Andre Burakovsky ($5,000) to offset the high price.

W - Mikko Rantanen, COL ($4,400)
St. Louis Blues forward Jaden Schwartz, who has at least a point in five straight games and eight of his past nine, is a no-brainer to fill a wing or UTIL spot on your DFS roster. But Rantanen is an even cheaper wing who has been thriving of late. Playing mostly alongside Nathan MacKinnon, Rantanen has at least a point in each of his past three games, including two multipoint performances. Although the Avalanche have been generous to opponents at home, the Canucks allow the third-most DraftKings points to opposing wings.
D - Ryan Suter, MIN ($5,400)
Suter has 13 points, 21 blocks and 42 SOG in 19 games for an average of 3.3 DraftKings points per contest. That's the same rate of production as Kris Letang ($6,700) of the Pittsburgh Penguins, yet Suter is priced $1,300 cheaper in DraftKings. As usual, Suter racks up DFS points as a result of shouldering a heavy workload on a nightly basis; he averages 27:23 of ice time per game (second in NHL behind Dustin Byfuglien, 28:05), with 3:08 coming on the power play (five power-play points). Suter scored a goal on five SOG against the Blues on Oct. 13.
D - Marc-Edouard Vlasic, SJS ($4,300)
Vlasic scored a goal with one block and two SOG (4.5 DraftKings points) against the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 25, and has been generating a lot of SOG lately (26 in past seven games). He also has 34 blocks in 20 games this season, offering the type of category coverage that DFS owners covet from such a low-priced defenseman. Vlasic offers exposure to all the Sharks top forwards at even strength and is worth a flier against a familiar opponent.
G - Matt Murray, PIT ($8,300)
With the Penguins starting Marc-Andre Fleury on Friday against the Minnesota Wild, Murray is slated to play at home against the New Jersey Devils. The Devils are allowing the seventh-most DraftKings points to opposing goalies and again will be without Taylor Hall, their top offensive player. Murray had a statement road win Wednesday against the New York Rangers and has at least 5.0 DraftKings points in six of his seven games this season. He's 2-0-0 with a .938 save percentage at home and always has a strong chance at the win bonus.

G - Roberto Luongo, FLA ($7,400)
Luongo, strong at home with a 5-3-0 record, 2.00 goals-against average and .925 SV%, faces the Columbus Blue Jackets, who will be on short rest after playing Friday against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He's fresh off a disappointing home loss to the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday, so DFS owners can expect a bounce-back effort. Luongo has 13 wins and four shutouts in 26 career games against the Blue Jackets, and is a low-priced goalie option worth drafting.
