Fantasy picks: Seek exposure to Patrik Laine

Jets teammate Nikolaj Ehlers among Nov. 10 DFS targets against Coyotes

by Pete Jensen @NHLJensen / Fantasy Insider

Each day this season,'s fantasy staff will provide daily picks for DraftKings NHL contests. This list of targets includes expensive and value options at each position to help you build a winning roster.

C - Evgeni Malkin, PIT ($6,900)

Malkin, priced sixth among centers in DraftKings and $1,200 cheaper than Pittsburgh Penguins teammate Sidney Crosby (C, $8,100), has been outstanding at home this season with nine points and 19 shots on goal in seven games. Malkin is a point-per-game player yet again (13 points in 13 games) and faces the Minnesota Wild, who are still without injured Zach Parise. He can be easily stacked with affordable linemate Chris Kunitz (W, $4,300).

C - Sean Monahan, CGY ($5,400)

Monahan, who has been priced at $6,100 in DraftKings as recently as Nov. 1, can be drafted at a discount in the midst of his season-opening slump. He has five points in 14 games, but luckily his minus-10 rating does not count against you in DraftKings. Alongside sleeping giant Johnny Gaudreau, he could finally bust out at home against the Dallas Stars, who are allowing the most DraftKings points to opposing centers this season.

W - Patrik Laine, WPG ($6,800)

At this point, Laine is on hat trick watch every night and a DFS lineup lock, especially considering he's tied for seventh among wings in DraftKings price. Laine leads the League with 11 goals and has 15 points and 44 SOG in his first 14 games. It costs a pretty penny to stack Laine with center Mark Scheifele ($7,200), but it's a no-brainer to combine him with Nikolaj Ehlers ($4,700) on the road against the Arizona Coyotes. Ehlers is averaging 6.6 DraftKings points per game during his three-game point streak.

W - Tyler Toffoli, LAK ($5,300)

The Los Angeles Kings face a daunting road task against the Montreal Canadiens, but Toffoli has been at his best away from Staples Center this season. He has five points and 23 SOG in six road games. He is currently flanking Jeff Carter and had a multipoint outing and 7.0 DraftKings points in a 7-0 road rout of the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. He's in a great spot on the Kings' first power-play unit with Carter, Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty.

D - Victor Hedman, TBL ($5,500)

Hedman has been DFS gold lately against the New York Islanders, piling up eight points (four goals, four assists) and 19 SOG in five games against them in the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs and two assists (5.5 DraftKings points) against them Nov. 1 at Barclays Center. On a night where 11 defensemen are more expensive, Hedman stands out as a high-end fantasy option with a surprisingly moderate price considering he has 10 points in 13 games this season.

D - Jaccob Slavin, CAR ($3,700)

With Justin Faulk ruled out Thursday because of an upper-body injury, look for Slavin to step up in his absence. Slavin averages 22:10 per game for the Carolina Hurricanes this season and was tasked with 26:02 against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday. He had one assist and two blocks in the game (3.0 DraftKings points), and has a foundation of strong peripherals (23 blocks, 18 SOG) through 12 games. He can return value if he sees any scoring spike with Faulk sidelined, especially at home against the Anaheim Ducks, who will be on the second of a back-to-back set.

G - Marc-Andre Fleury, PIT ($8,000)

Matt Murray has regained the starting job since returning from injury, but don't expect Fleury to just sit back and watch. He has been shaky in recent outings (1-0-1, seven goals allowed in past two starts), but is confirmed to start Thursday at home against the Wild with his usual strong chance at the win bonus. Even with weak peripherals, he is 6-2-2 on the season. The Penguins have swept their two-game series with the Wild in each of the past two seasons.

G - Pekka Rinne, NSH ($7,500)

Rinne has been much better at Bridgestone Arena (2-1-1, 1.73 goals-against average, .942 SV%) than on the road (1-3-2, 2.98 GAA, .909 SV%) this season. The Nashville Predators will play their third of a four-game homestand against the St. Louis Blues, who will be on short rest after playing against the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday.
