NEWARK, N.J. -- New Jersey Devils center Travis Zajac hopes to play Saturday against the Anaheim Ducks. Zajac will miss his seventh consecutive game with an upper-body injury when the Devils play the Florida Panthers on Thursday.
Zajac skated with the Devils and participated in some contact drills Thursday morning. It was his first practice since he was injured early in a game at the Carolina Hurricanes on Dec. 3.
"I'll have to see how [coach John Hynes] feels, but with another practice I think I'll be good," Zajac said. "I've been on my own for a couple of weeks, so it's about getting into a rhythm and more than anything getting some timing down. I haven't had someone pass me a puck in a while. I feel like after today I'm pretty confident."
Hynes wouldn't commit to Zajac playing Saturday.
"There's a possibility," Hynes said. "We have a couple of days before we have to make a decision but he's on track for sometime soon."
Zajac has 15 points in 24 games this season.
