Devils RW Jamie Langenbrunner returns from injury, makes season debut @NHLdotcom

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -Right winger Jamie Langenbrunner was in the New Jersey Devils lineup Wednesday night for the first time this season following surgery to repair a sports hernia and scored a goal on the game's opening shift.

Langenbrunner, tied for third on the team last season with a career-high 60 points, has been out since the operation in September. He sat out the entire preseason and the first 17 regular games as the Devils got off to a 7-8-2 start.

The 32-year-old forward went right into the starting lineup Wednesday against the New York Rangers, playing on a line alongside Travis Zajac and Zach Parise. He gave the Devils a 1-0 lead when he put a rebound past Henrik Lundqvist just 35 seconds into the game.

Langenbrunner was one of six Devils to play in all 82 games last season. In 739 previous NHL contests, he had 167 goals and 435 points.
