DUCKS (24-7-5) at DEVILS (14-15-6)
TV: PRIME, MSG-PLUS
Last 10: Anaheim 7-1-2, New Jersey 5-4-1
Season series: This is the second and final game of the season between the New Jersey Devils and Anaheim Ducks. The Devils won 4-3 in overtime on Nov. 20 in Anaheim. It's one of only two blemishes on the Ducks' home record, which is 13-0-2.
Big story: The Devils are trying to string together their second three-game winning streak of the season. They have won back-to-back games in regulation for the first time since Nov. 10-12 and only the third time this season. The Ducks are looking to put together their second seven-game winning streak of the season and continue a road trip that started with a 5-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena on Tuesday.
Ducks: The Ducks have practiced at Prudential Center the past two days after arriving in town from Detroit. With two days between games they've also enjoyed some of the festive holiday atmosphere in New York City.
However, it's back to business Friday and fortunately for the Ducks, captain Ryan Getzlaf will be in the lineup. Getzlaf left the game against Detroit after sustaining a facial injury when he was checked into the boards by Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey at 14:20 of the first period.
Getzlaf leads the Ducks with 39 points. Devils right wing Jaromir Jagr clearly thinks highly of how he's played so far this season.
"For me, Getzlaf is the MVP," Jagr said. "It's going to be a big challenge to play against him down low. It's pretty tough."
Devils: The Devils are looking to finish their three-game homestand with a perfect record after playing two of their strongest games of the season against the Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators. They beat the Lightning 3-0 behind 33 saves from Martin Brodeur and topped the Senators 5-2 with five different goal scorers.
Anaheim, though, presents a stiff test that the Devils feel they can pass. They did a month ago at Honda Center and haven't forgotten about it.
"We played them and competed real well, got a little lucky winning the game," Brodeur said. "It worked out that way. It's a challenge. We've been playing well against good teams. It's not a big deal, but we need to get games together if we want to get out of not being in the playoffs. We have to string games together."
Who's hot: For the Ducks, Corey Perry continues to sizzle with 10 goals and three assists in his past 11 games. Nick Bonino has scored in back-to-back games. … Devils forward Damien Brunner has snapped out of his funk with four goals in the past four games. Brunner went the previous 17 games without a goal.
Injury report: Anaheim gets defenseman Mark Fistric (upper body) back, but is without defensemen Sheldon Souray (right wrist) and Luca Sbisa (hand) as well as goalie Viktor Fasth (muscle inflammation). ... New Jersey is missing defensemen Bryce Salvador (fractured foot), Peter Harrold (foot) and Adam Larsson (lower body) as well as forwards Ryan Carter (lower body) and Ryane Clowe (concussion). Salvador and Clowe will travel with the team on their upcoming road trip and could play prior to the Christmas break.
