New Jersey Devils forward Brian Boyle joined the Boston Red Sox for their 17th Annual WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio "K Cancer" Telethon on Tuesday.

Boyle, who battled chronic myeloid leukemia last season, joined Red Sox broadcasters Dave O'Brien and Dennis Eckersley to tell his story.

Diagnosed during training camp, Boyle said he had an "anvil" in his stomach and fought uncharacteristic fatigue.
A native of Hingham, Massachusetts, Boyle spent four years during a highly decorated career at Boston College and said to this day he is still a fan of the Red Sox, Patriots and Celtics.
Boyle brought his son, 3-year old Declan, who also had a tough year medically, enduring multiple surgeries for arteriorvenous malformation in his jaw, to the game. Boyle shared a great picture of the two looking out at the field.

The Jimmy Fund also tweeted a picture of the family members in attendance. Boyle's one-year-old daughter, who he joked "would run out on the field" during his interview, was not there.

Boyle, clad in a red baseball jersey with "Jimmy Fund" written across the front, also threw out the ceremonial first pitch, toeing the rubber and firing a strike to Red Sox infielder Brock Holt.
