DETROIT (AP) -The Detroit Red Wings signed defenseman Brad Stuart to a four-year contract, and goalie Ty Conklin to a one-year deal on Tuesday.
The Red Wings obtained the 28-year-old Stuart from the Los Angeles Kings at the trade deadline last season for Detroit's second-round draft pick in 2008 and its fourth-round pick in 2009.
Stuart had one goal and one assist in nine regular season games, missed eight games with a broken finger, then returned in time for the playoffs and scored a goal and had six assists in 21 games for the Stanley Cup champions.
The San Jose Sharks took Stuart third overall in the 1998 NHL draft. He also has played for the Boston Bruins and Calgary Flames.
Conklin, 32, was 18-8-5 with a 2.51 goals-against average in 33 games last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the team Detroit beat in six games to win the Stanley Cup. The Edmonton Oilers signed him as a free agent in 2001 and he also has played for the Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres.
