Detroit Red Wings land Marian Hossa with US$7.4 million, one-year deal @NHLdotcom

DETROIT - Marian Hossa watched first-hand as the Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup and now he's signed with them.

A source tells The Canadian Press that the highly coveted winger has agreed to a US$7.45-million, one-year deal with the Red Wings. Hossa finished last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, who were beaten by Detroit in a six-game Stanley Cup final.

The Penguins tried hard to re-sign him but Hossa elected to try his hand at unrestricted free agency instead.

Hossa will join his fourth NHL team after previous stops in Ottawa, Atlanta and Pittsburgh.

In 701 career regular-season games, he has 299 goals and 648 points.
