"I think everyone is contributing," Bergeron said. "We've had some guys go in and out of the lineup. And whoever has been called upon to have more responsibility has done so. It's been great, it's been a fun ride, and we've got to keep that going."
Frans Nielsen scored, and Jimmy Howard made 23 saves for the Red Wings (13-15-7), who lost their second straight, even though they outshot the Bruins 31-26. Detroit is 3-4-2 in December and has scored two goals or fewer five times in that span. It has three wins in its past 15 games (3-7-5).
"We're working on it in practice, we talk about it, we know what we have to do," Red Wings captain Henrik Zetterberg said. "Some nights, we're really good scoring, when we get our chances. Tonight though, we didn't have any or that many Grade A chances, but we have had chances, and unfortunately we can't find a way to get the puck behind their goalie."
Marchand made it 1-0 with a 5-on-3 goal at 13:37. David Backes made a slap pass across the slot and Marchand beat Howard with a wrist shot from the bottom of the right circle.
Nielsen tied the game at 1-1 with the Bruins still on the power play 1:01 later with a shot through Rask's legs after Darren Helm stripped the puck from Danton Heinen at the red line.
