Darren Helm of Red Wings out at least six weeks

Forward dislocated shoulder in loss to Lightning @NHLdotcom

Detroit Red Wings forward Darren Helm is out at least six weeks with a dislocated shoulder, coach Jeff Blashill said Wednesday.

Blashill said Helm doesn't need surgery, he will be re-evaluated.

Helm was injured during a 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday when he tumbled over Lightning defenseman Nikita Nesterov.

The Red Wings are also missing forward Andreas Athanasiou (sprained knee), who will be out another 1-2 weeks. Blashill said he expects forward Thomas Vanek (hip) will be ready to play against the Calgary Flames at Joe Louis Arena on Sunday.

Detroit will likely recall a forward from Grand Rapids of the American Hockey League following the Griffins' game against Texas on Tuesday. The Red Wings play at the Washington Capitals on Friday (7 p.m. ET; CSN-DC, FS-D+, NHL.TV).
