DeSousa helps IceDogs end five-game losing skid with 5-4 win over Saginaw @NHLdotcom

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. - Chris DeSousa's goal early in the third period stood up as the winner as the Niagara IceDogs ended a five-game losing streak by defeating the Saginaw Spirit 5-4 in OHL action Saturday night.

DeSousa completed a three-way passing play with Matt Piva and Andrew Merrett 2:37 into the final period as the IceDogs won for just the second time in 12 games.

Piva also had two goals for Niagara (4-7-1-4) and Alex Friesen and Andrew Agozzino added singles.

Chris Chapell had two for Saginaw (8-5-0-0) and Joe Underwood and Adam Comrie rounded out the attack. Jack Combs assisted on all four goals.

IceDogs netminder Mark Visentin stopped 38 shots, while Joe Lepera and Edward Pasquale combined to make 28 saves for the Spirit.
