Engelland-VGK

Defenseman Deryk Engelland signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Vegas Golden Knights on Monday.
Engelland could have become an unrestricted free agent July 1. He was selected from the Calgary Flames at the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft on June 21 and has 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) in 41 games.

"I'm excited to be a part of the Golden Knights for another year and playing at home in front of the fans here," the Las Vegas resident told the Golden Knights website. "They're awesome."
Engelland, 35, has 99 points (25 goals, 74 assists) in 510 NHL games with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Flames and Golden Knights.
He is the third Golden Knights player who could have become an unrestricted free agent July 1 to sign a contract with Vegas. Defenseman Brayden McNabb signed a four-year, $10 million contract Nov. 30, and forward Jonathan Marchessault signed a six-year, $30 million contract Jan. 3.
Forwards David Perron and James Neal each can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
The Golden Knights (29-10-3) lead the Western Conference with 61 points and are four behind the Tampa Bay Lightning for the best record in the League. They play at the Nashville Predators on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET; SN, FS-TN, ATTSN-RM).
