Derek Roy seals Buffalo Sabres' 6-5 shootout win over San Jose

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Derek Roy scored the decisive shootout goal, and had a goal and an assist in regulation in the Buffalo Sabres' 6-5 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Friday night.

Jason Pominville, who snapped a 17-game goal drought, forced extra time by scoring with four seconds left in the third in a game where the Sabres squandered two three-goal leads.

Ryan Miller sealed the win by getting his glove out to stop Milan Michalek's shootout attempt.

Joe Thornton had four assists, and Patrick Marleau scored twice for the Western Conference-leading Sharks, who 1-0-3 on a five-game trip that ends Sunday in New Jersey.
