Denis Gurianov signed a one-year, $2.9 million contact with the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old forward could have been a restricted free agent July 13. He had an NHL career-high 31 points (11 goals, 20 assists) in 73 regular-season games and did not have a point in five Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Selected by Dallas in the first round (No. 12) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Gurianov has 94 points (44 goals, 50 assists) in 214 regular-season games and 17 points (nine goals, eight assists) in 32 playoff games.
The Stars (46-30-6) cliched the first wild card into the playoffs from the Western Conference and lost the best-of-7 first round in seven games to the Calgary Flames. Rick Bowness stepped down as coach May 20.
