Del Zotto leads way as London holds off Spirit to take 2-0 series lead @NHLdotcom

SAGINAW, Mich. - Michael Del Zotto had a three-point night as the London Knights built a 4-1 lead and held on to beat the Saginaw Spirit 4-3 on Saturday night to take a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven Ontario Hoickey League Western Conference semifinal series.

Del Zotto finished with a goal and two assist and John Tavares had a goal and an assist, while John Carlson chipped in three assists to lead the London attack.

Phil Varone continued his torrid scoring pace with his seventh playoff goal to finish up the Knights scoring, who overcame a 1-0 Spirit lead with four unanswered goals in the first two periods.

Tyler Murovich, Jack Combs and Joe Pleckaitis scored for Saginaw, with Pleckaitis adding an assist. The Spirit scored twice in the third period to pull with in a goal, but Trevor Cann shut the door, making 27 saves as London out shot Saginaw 34-30.

Edward Pasquale stopped 30 shots.

Game three is scheduled for Sunday night in London, Ont.
