SUNRISE, Fla. - Defenceman Travis Dermott was the first of eight players the Toronto Maple Leafs selected Saturday in second day of the NHL draft.
Toronto's draft began Friday with high-scoring centre Mitch Marner taken fourth overall.
A series of draft-day trades saw the Maple Leafs added more picks for the second day of selections.
Right-winger Jeremy Bracco was taken after Dermott in the second round. Defenceman Andrew Nielsen went in the third, as was Latvian left-winger Martins Dzierkals.
Toronto took Swedish defenceman Jesper Lindgren in the fourth, followed by Ukrainian left-winger Dmytro Timashov in the fifth.
Defenceman Stephen Desrocher was chosen in the sixth round before Toronto ended its draft by selecting Russian right-winger Nikita Korostelev in the seventh.
