OSHAWA, Ont. - Dean Howard's third period marker stood as the winner for the Oshawa Generals as they disposed of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds 3-2 in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday.
Howard scored with 3:23 remaining in the game, while John Tavares, with his league-leading 17th tally, and David Jarram also scored goals for the Generals, who improve to 9-4-0-1 with the victory.
With an assist on Howard's goal, Tavares upped his league-best totals to 17-15-32 in 14 games.
Andrew Campbell scored for the Greyhounds (12-3-0-1) in the second to cut a Generals lead in half, while Sean Jones scored at 18:17 of the third with the extra attacker on to tie it.
Jakub Kovar made 28 saves in net for the Generals, while Kyle Gajewski was beaten three times on 36 shots.
Both teams sputtered with the man advantage with the Generals going 1-for-9, while Sault Ste. Marie converted once on eight opportunities.
