CALGARY, Alberta (AP) - Darryl Sutter has resigned as general manager of the Calgary Flames.

The NHL team said Tuesday that assistant GM Jay Feaster will be the acting general manager. The Flames are fourth in the Northwest Division with 35 points.

Sutter was hired as general manager in 2003, a few months after becoming the coach. He gave up his coaching job in 2006 to concentrate on the front office. He was also the team's executive vice president.
