Darcy Kuemper made 27 saves to earn the shutout as the Red Deer Rebels went into Saskatoon and shocked the Blades 3-0 in Western Hockey League action Saturday night.
Saskatoon (23-9-2-0), the first place team in the East Division, went into the game with 21 more wins and 19 more points than the Rebels (13-18-0-5), last in the Central Division.
But, Steve Oursov opened the scoring or Red Deer with his third goal of the season, a power play marker 15:59 into the first period.
Willie Coetzee's 10th of the year doubled the Rebels' lead 2:26 into the second before Cass Mappin got an insurance goal with another power play goal 1:39 before the second intermission.
However, Kuemper didn't need the extra help as he turned away 12 shots in the third period to make Oursov's goal stand up as the winner.
