REGINA - Keegan Dansereau recorded a hat trick and an assist to lead the Swift Current Broncos to a 6-3 win over the Regina Pats in Western Hockey League action Wednesday night.
The loss marks the fifth in a row for the Pats (23-29-1-5) and 15th in their last 20 games, while the win leaves Swift Current (32-24-1-1) all alone in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
Dansereau scored both of Swift Current's first period goals, the first a pretty tic-tac-toe play set up by Justin Dowling and Matt Tassone and the second set up by John Negrin and Dowling, with his second assist of the night.
Regina's first goal was credited to Colten Teubert after his slapshot from the point was deflected in front of the Broncos' net and in for his 10th of he season.
In the second, Geordie Wudrick made it a 3-1 game when Teubert coughed up the puck in front of his net and Wudrick slipped it past a surprised Linden Rowat for his 24th of the year.
Regina's Mitch Czibere helped his team get back in it when he won a race down the right side and threw a perfect goal mouth pass to Brett Leffler, who scored his 29th of the season.
Less than a minute later Swift Current got the goal back when Cody Eakin stripped the puck from Teubert and set up Michael Stickland for his 20th of the year and the eventual game winner.
In the third, Regina's Matt Strueby tipped in a Matt Robertson shot to give the Pats a hope, only to be dashed by Eakin with his 19th of the year and an empty netter from Dansereau, his 33rd of the season.
Earning the win for the Broncos while making 36 saves was Travis Yonkman (19-12-0-1). Making 22 saves in the loss for Regina was Rowat (16-19-1-3).
