BRAMPTON, Ont. - Daniel Michalsky and Vladimir Nikiforov each scored a pair of goals and Michael Hutchinson turned aside 31 shots as the Barrie Colts cruised to a 6-2 win over the Brampton Battalion in Ontario Hockey League action Sunday afternoon.
Stefan Della Rovere and George Lovatsis rounded out the scoring for Barrie, while Cody Hodgson and Mike Lomas replied for the Battalion.
Brampton took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission after Hodgson opened the scoring at the 3:00 mark. Barrie regained momentum early in the second, scoring three goals during a 2:26 span.
Brampton's Matt Stajan received a five-minute major for checking to the head and a game misconduct after laying out Ryan Gottschalk.
With the win, Barrie (14-9-1-0) vaulted ahead of Brampton (12-8-1-2) for first place in the Eastern Conference's Central Division. The Colts converted on 1 of 8 power play opportunities, while the Battalion went 1-for-5 with the man advantage.
